“My early childhood here was a pleasant one, a good one. And the one when I look back on as being a lot better than it is today. We used the dig mud clams out here. We go hunt ducks out here. We’d go back in those hills back here and peel Cascara bark. That was our way of earning a little money for our subsistence. Really, we lived off the land, the mud clams, the ducks, the deer back here was adequate for our subsistence as far as that was concerned.”
